Two posts in 1 day, personal record. This is if we don't count Van's post, her's is too cool anyway.
SO, to be the same or to be different?Or to be the same different thing?
It seems to be a growing trend that being different from everyone else is the "cool" thing. Having a name like Peter or Jane isn't "cool" anymore, people now opt for names like "Apple", "Lemon" or "Super" (I'm still looking for a "Potato") and that doing things or even listening to music that everyone else listens to is just so "not cool".
But how far would all these go before all the "different" things end up the "same" thing.
Well, here's an example if you don't get what I mean.
Back in the days, Pink isn't a colour that anyone would pick to fill up their wardrobe. Well, at least not guys. And guys with pink as their favourite colour isn't a common thing, except perhaps if you goto that bar in the middle of the city where they don't allow girls in. Heh, A thought just crossed my mind, imagine Slash with a Pink guitar. Try Ozzy. The only thing about pink back in the days were perhaps, Aerosmith's song "Pink", which isn't even about the colour, but about "Guys' Best Friend".
Anyway, back to the point/story. Nowadays, if you walk on the street, you start having these feelings as if shops don't sell any clothes that doesn't involve Pink anymore. That, or you should probably wear three underwears and keep an eye on your back the next time you hit the streets.
So you see it started off with people thinking, "No one wears pink so I will and I will be different". To now, everyone is wearing the same different thing(mind you, with their collars up too, as if beneath it reads "I have my collar up, I am FUCKING cool").
Get me?Yeah I know, long story for a pointless point. But that's what I do best.
Another common scenario these days can be seen with music. The little kids thinks it's so cool if they listen to bands you never have heard of. Then you tell yourselve, they might actually be a good band, why not check them out. Only to realise a couple of days later that the said band has no website, no wikipedia page(hell, even CIPA does), not from your local town and hence no known gigs, no records at the record store and not even a myspace page! You start wondering if it is a fictional band they saw in a C grade movie.
The problem is, if wanting to be different will essentially lead you to be the same, then, wouldn't wanting to be the same lead you to being different?
Confusing, yeah. But I pity those people who try so hard to be the same just to fit in(no pun intended).
Please note, I also have a problem with people who so desperately crave for fame and popularity, ie mainstream stuffs.
Yes, I'm a hypocrite.
What happen to all those people who do it purely for the love of it? Like Bush, he really does love war. I know it. I guess this quote sums it up best.
The underground is mainstream and the mainstream is a lie - British India
Regardless(again, no pun intended), Happy Chinese New year
TY

Gay bands?Like Fall Out Boy or Queen?
I'm not against gay bands. Just fictional, non-existent bands.
My tie isn't fashion, I just don't feel comfortable with it too tight.
And it's hot(heat not sexy). Don't you realise it gets lower the hotter the day is?Heh.
But I don't see how collar up is more comfortable than down. It's poking your neck!!!
Anyway, it's freezing here these few days and don't screw with my brain! I like 1+1=2 not 1+1=3.
Thanks.
Oh and I found this chick through myspace that's way better than Marie Digby. Maybe not as hot(still hot though) but way better music.
